This chapter focuses upon the theoretical and practical aspects of administering chemotherapy. Procedure guidelines are included in the text as well as essential information provided in the tables and boxes. The use of the terms SACT and chemotherapy are used interchangeably throughout this chapter, SACT refers to any medication using any route that has direct anti‐tumour activity including cytotoxic chemotherapy such as carboplatin, monoclonal antibodies and immunotherapy. SACT does not refer to hormonal medication or intrathecal chemotherapy (UKONS [248]).
